I place to look is windows updates.

Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update history. Confirm if any updates were installed on that date.

On the WIndows update page click on Advanced Options then Cull how updates are delivered.

On the "Chose how updates are delivered" page if the first option is turned on, the MS is using your computer as a "mule" to deliver updates to other people. That would account for network use.

Too check in the Recycle bin, if someone was using your organisation and they were sloppy, there could be deleted files there ("sloppy" because there is an option to delete files without putting them in the recycle bin).

I do non see the "Avant-garde Options" on the Windows Update History folio. Is in that location another method to go to the Advanced Options?

Is  at that place a method to view what was downloaded on 11/16/2017 during a specific time period? Something downloaded that used 15 GB, nonetheless, I cannot find it. I practise know that it occurred on 11/sixteen/2017 between v:xxx PM and 6:30 PM.

Thanks,

Paulwayne

Hi, Paul, TCPIPView is condom, I would not put you lot incorrect . . .

Actually TCPIPView is more for monitoring your network activity should this sort of thing happen once more . . .

As for what was downloaded on xi/16/2017 between 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM

At that place are 2 possible means to discover that out:

i.
Open Windows File Explorer and double click on your C Drive in 'This PC'

Click in the Search Box
The Search Ribbon should go active
Click Date Modified drop down and choose Today
And so click the blue text in the search box, a calendar will announced
Select the 16th and give it fourth dimension to search - information technology tin can exist a while

In the resulting search, y'all should be able to come across what downloaded . . .

2.
Click your Beginning Push button, type Event Viewer and striking Enter
This volition open the Upshot Viewer app
On the left, click the arrow abreast Windows logs to aggrandize information technology
For each log, click it and gyre down through the events to find that engagement and time
This might requite you some clue as to what happened at that time and what was downloaded . . .

Sorry, misdirected yous. the Advanced Options is on the "Update Condition" page

Sorry, I do not know of whatever way of identifying what was up or downloaded during a specific time. At that place are many utilities that tin can monitor y'all internet apply. The problem is that most of them focus on full volume and speed. Very few provide any ID for the file or programme that is doing the up/down loading.

http://www.cucusoft.com/netguard.aspx#CheckHist... is i exception I found in a QUICK search. It at to the lowest degree identifies the program doing the traffic.

You will have to do your ain search to notice a better suited application to identify FUTURE traffic.

This article tells how to use congenital in tools to monitor network traffic, including application doing the piece of work:

Hi Dave,

I used the result viewer to view my PC activity for 11/sixteen/2017 betwixt 5:00 PM and half dozen:30 PM. I come across several warning letters and error messages. It appears something was trying to download and install some apps or security files, I'thousand not sure.

Could I email you a couple of screen shots of the outcome viewer and get your feedback? I really do not empathize what was occurring on eleven/16/2017, merely it did last for almost 2 hours and looks a flake suspicious to me. I practice not see a way to adhere screen shots on this community web site, perchance I can reply back with the text?

Pitiful for all the questions.

Give thanks You lot Dave,

Paul

How-do-you-do Paul, sad i had to get some sleep . . .

Tin can you lot do one thing for me:
Click your Start Button, type winver and hit Enter
In the resulting dialog, take a note of what version No. of Windows ten you are running (1709, 1703, 1607 . . . etc.)

Due to the amount of data that has been downloaded, I am guess it was the Fall Creators Update that was downloading. If you are not running 1709, then that is the most likely scenario . . .

Of you want to postal service screenshots you can practise that here or upload them to the deject (DropBox,OneDrive . . .etc.) and post a link here and I volition accept a wait for yous . . .
